Family and time to think big
My sister gave birth to a healthy baby girl last Friday morning. I was able to go and see them in the hospital and just went over to their house to bring them some food and say hello. So, when I'm not at work I'll be spending more time with them! I will also be going away over Thanksgiving. My crew will be holding it down while I am gone. So, if you can get us your thanksgiving orders now that would be helpful so we can plan.
It looks like we'll be harvesting zinnias into late November, and our sunflowers are just coming on. Although they got hit hard by the wind storm a few weeks ago, we'll still have some to harvest. I've been reminded by my crew it's time to start making our herbal tea blends. I'm excited to share those with you soon! I'm also excited to have our wreath workshop on the calendar. Signup asap to save your spot. Class is limited to 15 people. I've loved getting to welcome so many of you onto the rooftop and share how I got started and what we are up to. Your kind words and enthusiasm for what we are doing are keeping me going! So, thank you!

Today I've been working from home and listening to the gentle rain. I am so thankful for the rain, although it doesn't mean an end to our drought it is so welcome and needed. As I shared a bit recently l'm thinking about ways in which I can make a bigger impact. Myself and the former farmer (and designer of the rooftop farm on which I reside) Benjamin Fahrer were working with council member Hahn to come up with some rooftop legislation for Berkeley. Both I and Ben got too busy with our farm seasons. If you are interested in working on this let me know! I'm hoping to reach out to some farmers on the east coast and hear more about their successes and challenges with rooftop farming. I was also thinking about creating some sort of rooftop farm symposium (anyone want to help with this?). I saw they have one in Denmark so that made me think why not host one here as well.
That's it for now.
Hope to see you this weekend! Thanks for taking the time to read
